SAFERPLAY is an Open Course based on an innovative system that introduces a new methodology of learning adapted to the needs of the users. It focuses on safe play in public spaces, including parks and any open space. The students may create their own way of learning and choose the intensity with which they want to develop it. The course has been developed as part of a European-funded project of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme on innovative training in the design, installation and maintenance of safer and challenging play areas.

SAFERPLAY Open SAFERPLAY Open Course is a completely free course and open to any person interested and wanting to participate in it.
To whom is the SAFERPLAY Open Course addressed?
This course is intended for architects, designers and landscape architects, installers and maintainers, manufacturers of playground equipment and surfaces, play areas risk assessors and inspectors, students and teachers involved in recreational and leisure activities, local and regional public administration, consumer authorities, and bodies in charge of recreational and leisure areas in schools, nurseries, hotels, etc.
What topics of interest am I going to find?
SAFERPLAY Open Course aims to establish a pioneering cooperation among universities, research associations, experts, social groups and trainers of VET (education and vocational training) as well as those responsible for the design and safety of play spaces, represented mainly by architects and designers, companies and local/regional authorities and staff. Its aim is to provide training in design installation and maintenance of safer and challenging play areas, using innovative methodologies based on ICT and open educational resources, customised and personalised according to the needs of the students involved. Free access to innovative content and learning method. It will serve as a platform for the exchange of experiences and collaborative learning between all the participants involved in the play sector.
Are there any pre-requisites to take this course?
You only need to have interest in design, installation and maintenance of safer and challenging play areas, and great enthusiasm for learning.
Will I get a diploma when finishing this course?
Yes, at the end of the course the student will be given a final diploma of the course. In addition, each module passed will be rewarded with a badge which will be represented by an icon in the final diploma.
Can I take modules from different courses and different learning pathways to complete my training?
Yes, the student can freely choose modules to take if he/she considers them necessary to complete his training, and even participate in more than one route of learning in other learning paths.
Do I have to take all modules of the course to obtain a final diploma?
No, it is not necessary to complete all the modules.

You can take the course from your computer, tablet, or mobile phone. You just need an Internet connection!
When does this course start?
The course is scheduled to start from February 2018 but it never ends, which means students can return to the contents at any time to update their knowledge, unlike the MOOC (massive online free and open course), which have a set start and end dates. It is one of the features of innovation of the SAFERPLAY Open Course, among others.
