The first Multiplier Event (E1) on the European project SAFERPLAY was held last November 15 at the National Gallery Fair Trade Palace in Prague, Czech Republic. This event was aimed at outlining the new, open and free online training that is being developed within the framework of the SAFERPLAY project among students, public administration, company personnel, graduates and job seekers. The meeting also highlighted the advantages of this online tool for improving the capabilities of organizations involved in the safety and the design of spaces of play.

These training materials will cover important issues such as as child safety in playgrounds , children’s preferences and needs in relation to the environment, accessibility, the importance of balance between play, risk and safety, the key to creating play areas with an intergenerational perspective and attractive designs, as well as how to carry out an adequate installation, inspection and maintenance of play areas.

Within group discussions the participants explored the role that children currently play in designing public spaces and what their role should be.
As a closing event, students of a secondary school shared their views of the urban environment in which they live, providing invaluable information to help define the content of the SAFERPLAY project.
